  1. No
Okay, let's do another Macro Mondays.

Theme this week: JEWELRY

The rules are simple:
  1. Post only macros*
  2. Post only photos taken after a new theme is announced (so don't post images from your archives)
  3. Photos need to be safe for work
  4. As this is a personal challenge and not a competition and there are no winners you can add as many images as you like.
*The standard definition of a macro is 1:1 reproduction ratio, i.e. a 35mm equivalent of 24x36mm. We should try to post "true" macros but let's allow photos up to an maximum of 75mm/3", or in English: photos that come close...

Okay, so I started another Macro Mondays. I blame inphoto for it. He made me do it. Honestly! :lolz:

Seriously though, this macro stuff is really hard. Everything that I thought it would be, it is not. I thought it would be a kind of close-up abstract and it's not. Everything is rather ugly when you start to get so close to a subject. Okay, maybe not insects and flowers, but ordinary objects? It's hard. Anyway, I tried to shoot some of the jewellery my mum left me. It's very pretty but you can't tell from the shots I took. Here's just one. I will try again with something else tomorrow. Also, my table is not purple so I also don't think the WB is as it should be... It is a true macro though. In fact it's just a little over 1:1, or so the meter in the camera indicated.

Looks very good to me! All the detail is there!
And don't blame me, I just wished a macro challenge...:giggle::heart: and the fairy brought it...;)

Now I gotta find some jewelry....

I finally had some time to do some jewelry macro :)
Yes! What took you so long?!

See, these are so much better than the straight on shooting I did with the pendant. I will try again later today. With a ring. Or maybe an earring. This is really hard to get a handle on.

Oh, I now remember I have a reverse lens adapter! I have never used it before. I’m going to try that too.

Yes, finally I found some jewelry and time, thank you!
Waiting for your results, it is difficult to do this macro because you are losing a great part of the view of the jewelry.

Here's an unrecognizable earring

Yes, exactly and that makes this so difficult. When I take a shot Inhave no idea what it will look like.

Granddaughter's hairpin with the Canon Powershot super macro mode at 0cm distance
I did some with my Powershot too!! But unhappy with them. Again. So I took one to Photoscape X and used an "old photo" overlay. It's still crap of course... I'm really not cut out for macro.

Agree! nice job! My SX10is has a super macro setting by pressing the flower (normal macro) button for 1 second.

Thanks!
My little old Powershot doesn't have a super macro setting.
Although I must say that the macro setting alone does a really good job I think. Quite silly, isn't it, to use a little Powershot from 2008. But the macro setting just works. And without any fussing.

Old and recent compacts and smartphones do the job quickly and easy, Dslrs and mirrorless are way more complicated and incapable at times.
