That's a good one, Mac.A 'Common Hawker' I think. Taken with my Tamron 600mm 'no crop'. I only tried it because it was out amongst the reeds in the canal and I would have had to paddle to get to it.

It's quite amazing how much difference there is between 300mm and 600mm. Even going from my EF 400/5.6L to 500mm with the RF 100-500L is quite noticeable and that is just 100mm.Hi Levina, Thank You. I was surprised how close I could get with a lens like that, I know my 70-300 gets me pretty close to subjects but a 150 - 600mm,![]()
Cracking shot, Mac. Nailed focus. Can’t help with the ID. To me they all look the same…My guess (Female, Northern Damselfly)

Yes! Yesterday I was looking at some flowers that I took years ago. Always wondered what they were and if they are in fact "native" so I could maybe post them in the Native Wildflower thread. After reading here that Obsidentify could ID those too, I gave it a try last night and it worked (it was brassica rapa)! I should have known that though, because whenever I go into "explore" mode on their site, I need to select "birds" to avoid getting insects and mosses and flowers and what have you, in the search results.Try ObsIdentify(android or iOS).
That is beautiful!Cucumber Spider and Dog Rose

Hi pcs thanks for the info I'll give that a tryTry ObsIdentify(android or iOS).
I've installed it and tried it on the damselfly it has identified it as a 'Common Bluetail' with a 73% certainty. That's good enough for me.Hi pcs thanks for the info I'll give that a try![]()
