The Elkhart Armory building was first built in Elkhart by Herbert Bucklen in 1906, initially functioning as a garage for auto mechanic John Landon.
In 1911 Bucklen had the building expanded to serve as The Armory.
The city tore down the building in 2013 which took about 6 weeks according to the dates on my images.
The Bucklen name has been a well known name in Elkhart all my life. I just got lucky and found THIS link talking about Herbert in this FaceBook account.
I have a few pictures of the building BEFORE they started tearing it down.
This picture shows the name better at the top of the building at the bottom of the picture.
Notice in this picture someone was shooting water onto the building to keep the dust down (I am guessing) while they worked on tearing down the building.
