Nice shots. I suppose panning is kind of practical need as well, next to wanting to show speed. If I look at the first post, I can imagine the photo when shot at high shutterspeed and frozen would be far too busy, with the fences, guardrail like dividers, stands...

You're right the background is very busy and the blur adds a little drama.
 
2nd pass ever.

not a track bike, so nothing tied down (front suspension sometimes is strapped down i guess to help keep from having issues?)

rear tire locked up at the go light, bike stood straight up on its tail, then promptly fell over, nearly on top of me.

about $400 in damage and that was using used parts.

1st pass was 12.4 @114mph

yeah, it was the only thing i hurt. of course having to buy parts for a bike that was out of production was a task, i finally got some parts that were good enough that matched the rest of the 'patina' of how it was before if flipped/broke/dumped it...
