I have the R7 and while I like the reach with it, it certainly has issues. I keep hearing that they may or may not be fixed with the Mk II. So far all specs are rumors. The latest from Canon rumors is that it and the R6iii may both be announced at the end of August.

There are several things that I would need to see in order to upgrade.

First is rolling shutter - gone!
Good high ISO performance - currently you really can't use it at 3200 and above
would like a battery/vertical grip
also CF Express Card with dual slots could be a no CF on one

also I have heard rumors of a 40 mpx sensor, isn't 32 enough on an APS-C?

Has anything been confirmed for either camera? By Canon I mean?

No THAT is the big issue it is all leaks and speculation.

Even when they come out I will still rent one before making up my mind

Leaks and speculation. Yeah, all those "rumor" and "watch" sites telling us the camera would be launched Q4 2024, then Q1 2025, then June. Now August?

At this point I'm in doubt if there is going to be a R7m2 or R6m3 at all! Well okay, a R6 mark III yes, that's no doubt true. But I'm not at all sure about an R7 mark II. So far Canon hasn't made any announcement yet.

I am so done with watching rumors on the new cameras from Canon, there is always nothing new or concrete, the latest is that it will have a built in coffee maker for cold mornings in the field...
Not really but the "influencers" feed on each other, I will wait for the reviews once the cameras are released and then rent one to see for myself

Canon Rumors always predicts a date and then it isn't happening and they give a new rumoured date and then that isn't happening either so I'm not holding my breath. If CR says: early 2026, March maybe, then you can almost count on it to change to 3Q 2026 and then Late November. I don't know, but this date thing on CR? I think they're teasers at best and clickbait at worst.

Would be nice though if I were proven wrong!

interesting video, even if the voice is AI and grating on the ears, about the R7ii. To sum it up quickly, if Canon burying the R7ii in favor of its lower priced entry level full frame cameras. The FF would cause the purchasers to spend more on lenses as opposed to lower prices RF-S lenses. They felt that APS-C cameras were aimed at beginners and some wildlife photogs.

I will admit with the RF extenders being so good, at least the RF1.4x is, put on a R6ii or R5ii you get almost the reach of a R7 although at the cost of the loss of a little light.

It will be interesting to see what takes place...
